Senior C++ Engineer, Chromium

Write and maintain C++ patches to the Chromium engine for client browsers, and keep them current across upstream releases.

About Browser Developers

Browser Developers is a browser engineering team. We build and maintain custom Chromium and Firefox browsers, browser extensions and cross-platform desktop apps for clients, and we keep them current after launch.

About the role

You will work inside the Chromium codebase on features our clients cannot get from extensions: changes to the browser UI, networking, privacy behavior and the renderer. The work is delivered as small, reviewable patches on top of upstream.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement C++ changes to Chromium, from the browser process to Blink.
  • Keep patch series small and readable so they can be reviewed and rebased.
  • Rebase patches onto new Chromium releases and resolve conflicts.
  • Debug crashes and regressions with the tools Chromium provides.
  • Write tests and document each change for the client team.

Requirements

  • Strong modern C++ and experience with a large codebase.
  • Experience reading and changing Chromium, or a comparable engine, in real work.
  • Comfort with GN, Ninja and building Chromium from source.
  • Good habits with Git, code review and written handoff.

Nice to have

  • Blink, the network stack or Chrome UI (Views) experience.
  • Experience upgrading a Chromium fork across major versions.
  • Rust or Python for tooling.
